Topics in the June 2025 Issue
The June 2025 Journal (Issue 114) contains more interesting new articles for Cape, Zululand and CGH.
We kick off this issue with Chris Dorn’s authoritative Three Enduring Mysteries of the Cape of Good Hope Triangular Issues. It’s172 years since the first of the Triangulars appeared and they were only prepared for 12 years from 1853 to 1864, yet so varied are the shades of the dyes, especially in the 6d values, that it requires considerable expertise to identify the colours of particular stamps. Fortunately we have such expertise in Chis Dorn and I think you will enjoy the way he goes about solving the mysteries.
John Courtis has contributed one of his masterly articles, this time covering Early Great Britain Postal Wrappers, Incoming in Settlements in Africa. These scarce and fragile wrappers have enabled a detailed history of the recipients, the destinations and sea voyages, including much of interest about the ports such as Beira, Port Elizabeth, East London, Umzimkulu and Zanzibar City.
Three Natal contributions include: Reproductions of Six Queen Victoria Stamps, The De La Rue Queen Victoria Revenue Issue 1882-1901 and The Madagascar British Inland Mail Covers Part 4.
Also included are two very striking CGH Covers and two Underpaid Zululand Covers.
